Tasty Gulasch

  • 12 oz Chuck steak
  • 2 Yellow onions
  • 2 Rarge, red peppers
  • 1/2 Red chili
  • 2 Garlic cloves
  • 1 tsp Grinded caraway
  • 4 tbsp Tomato paste
  • 2 cups Water
  • 8 tbsp Veel stock
  • 3 large potatoes
  • 1 milliter Cayenne pepper
  • 1 1/2 tsp Paprika
  • ½ tsp salt
  • ½ tsp Black pepper


  1. Cut the beef into rough 1,5 inch chunks and dice the potatoes. Cut onions, peppers, chili and garlic cloves in small pieces.
  2. Put the vegetables in the bottom of the slow cooker and the beef on top of them.
  3. Add some salt, black pepper, caraway and paprika.
  4. Add water, tomato paste and veel stock.
  5. Put on the lid and turn the slow cooker on “low”. Set the timer on 4 hours.
  6. When the time is out, check that the potatoes are cooked fully. Add salt and pepper after taste.Serving tip: Serve in a bowl, put some creme fraiche on top. Offer some bread on the side

Tasty Gulasch, background

This Tasty Gulasch is spiced up with some modern herbs. The original Tasty Gulasch is a Hungarian invention and traces back all the way to the 9th century. Shepherds used to bring this food with them when they were out doing shepherd stuff on the steppes of Hungary. It is, of course, the perfect food when you are Hungry!
